Vision and Mission of the Department
Vision:
The department of philosophy is advocating the study of both Indian and
Western Philosophy in tune with the needs of the everchanging society. The department gives emphasis on classical Indian philosophy as well as Western philosophy, Logic, Analytic Philosophy, Philosophy of Language, philosophy of Mind, Religion, Social and Political philosophy. The vision of the department is to help students to apply theoretical and as well as practical principles to the contemporary problems and thereby effectively handles issues in day to day life.
Mission:
• The department is committed to translate the vision into reality
• To inculcate ethical values in the students
• To provide the basic knowledge regarding philosophical theories and thought, so that they can confidently appear in SSC, NET, SET and other competitive examinations
• To foster an all-inclusive perspective in the mind of the students, so that develop their rational conception of reality as a whole
• The objective of the Undergraduate course in philosophy is to help students arrive at a rational conception of reality as a whole. The course focuses on an array of topics like Indian and Western Philosophy, Logic, Analytic philosophy, Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Mind, Religion, Social and Political Philosophy, Ethics and such in the context of an overall effort to present concepts, techniques and models which will help the students pursuing the course to gain a better knowledge of the subject.
