Biography
She is an Associate Professor in the department of English, Jorhat kendriya Mahavidyalaya. She has been serving in the department for the last 24 years. She imparts classes for regular Secondary and UG levels. She is also a faculty for the PG classes (Distance mode). She is a post-graduate from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong campus. She has undertaken and completed a Post-graduation Certificate Course in the Teaching English (PGCTE) from Central Institute of English and foreign languages (CIEFL), Hyderabad. She has acquired her doctoral degree (Ph.D) from Gauhati University. Understanding that communication skill is an essential aspect to foster excellence and make way for career mobility both in the academic field and the job market, with the permission of the College authority, she has designed a Spoken English certificate course of 60 days duration for the 5th /6th semester students. Her areas of Specialization are Linguistics and Postcolonial Studies/ Culture studies. She has had an opportunity of making a presentation on the Sattriya Dance form in Shilpakorn University Bangkok in a ‘Cultural and Academic exchange programme’ undertaken by the College in December 2019.

As a coordinator of Career guidance and counseling cell, besides organizing counseling programmes of various natures for the benefit of the students, she has also conducted workshops on Language proficiency and on the art of facing an interview, with a view to increase prospects of employability of student participants. Had also organized two District Level Talent Search Examinations involving students of standard IX, X, XI and XII in and around Jorhat
